| Notes: | If you wonder how come there's only one set of screenshots at the bottom of this "comparison," the answer is simple: both this Hungarian DVD & the French one reviewed below utilise the same video stream. That is, the very last scene after the end-credits (see the following screenshot) is 216 frames (almost 9 seconds) longer + there are a few more credits following it in the MOKÉP release, but the rest of the stream is bitwise identical with the one used on the French disc.

| Notes: | This seemed to be such a nice package: PAL (I don't mind the speed-up, I prefer higher resolution), DTS, English subtitles... However, the most important thing for me - the transfer - is far from perfect. First, there are many places where it suffers from "pixelization" (I'm not sure that's the proper term). Following is an example of this issue (mouse over the image to zoom in - requires JavaScript). Look for spots where the pixels form a kind of chequered structure (dark, light, dark...). This might not seem serious to you, but believe me, it's pretty annoying when you see it in motion.

Another problem is that the AR seems to be off. According to IMDb, and as seen in DVDBeaver's review of the R1 release, the AR should be 1.85:1. Here, the AR is mostly 1.99:1, but there are scenes where it's 1.96:1 (see frame 5624), or even 1.91:1 (see frame 59162), and indeed, if you compare my screenshots with DVDBeaver's (you'll have to use an image editor, I'm afraid), you'll see that One Plus One squeezed the picture too much vertically. Regarding the subtitles, there's actually no dialogue in the film, only a few folk songs - those are subtitled. A really weird thing is that the Making of featurette is subtitled in English only! I've got quite a lot of French DVDs; 99 % of them do not have English subs at all, and the French ones are usually forced on non-French content, but here - a featurette in Hungarian with optional English subs only... weird... ;-) *with burnt-in French subtitles |
