I'd like to point out a strange thing I found while watching the film. Take a look at the examples below, and note that the face, and the hands of the monk in the picture in the left, the hands of one of the men in the picture in the middle, and the boy's hand in the last picture seem to be transparent! This might have been caused by the colour filters used in the film, but I suspect it could be a side-effect of the restoration process. If anyone knows the real cause of this phenomenon, I'd be grateful for his / her ;-) help in clarifying this issue.

WOW! This really caught me unawares - I was expecting the transfer to be identical with SFI's 2006 release (reviewed above), but whoa - this seems like a completely different film! The sharpness - previously non-existent - is simply magnificent here, and we see a good deal more picture on all four sides, however - and I'm afraid this might count against the new disc - the colouring is all but gone! As I've never seen "Wild Lilies" theatrically, I cannot vouch for one version or the other, but considering that even the crappy TV broadcast below shows some kind of colour tinting, I'd say the old one is more truthful to the original.
Extras-wise, there's no need to engage my brain, and the Freaxcar ;-) goes to SFI's 2006 release for Havetta's short films... *difference between channels is -40.98 dB (0.89 %) |
