Can't say I'm impressed by this "HD remaster" - AFAIK, this was shot on 16mm, and while the grain on the DVD is rather overpowering (especially with the generous contrast-boosting applied), I simply don't believe the scrubbed-to-death Blu-ray presentation accurately resembles the show's 16mm source elements. "The Sign of Four," which I just skimmed through (didn't feel like watching it for a review since I've seen the DVD only a short while ago), looks even worse - like, seriously waxy faces & stuff! :-P The first six seasons of "Poirot" I've got together with this do look slightly better (the couple of episodes I've seen so far), but I'll be thinking twice before my next "ITV HD" shopping spree... | |
