Notes: | From the booklet:
A NOTE ON THIS VERSION OF THE DAMNED The version of The Damned presented on this DVD runs to 91 minutes 21 seconds. There is a four per cent disparity between theatrical and PAL DVD frame rates, and after this is accounted for it seems almost certain that this print was struck from the original cut of the film signed off by Hammer's dubbing mixer Stan Fiferman in early November 1961. Reports of an even longer 100 minute version of the film have proved impossible to verify. This DVD features the British version of Reel 9, with the pick-up shot of Bernard shooting Freya, but intriguingly opens with the American title These Are The Damned. This was presumably appended by Columbia some time after Hammer's original delivery, and has been preserved here because the archivists at Sony (the Columbia rights-holders) report that the original British titles for the film are sadly not preserved. Despite the misleading title, we are confident that this DVD presents The Damned in its longest available format.
Plus, two more pictures I'd like to show you; in the first one, there's an interesting reflection visible in the guy's helmet (the "ghost" appears in this one single frame only):
