This DVD is a part of Bohemia Motion Pictures' "Klenoty českého filmu" ("The Jewels of Czech Cinema") collection - conceived to take advantage of the availability of new high-definition masters created primarily for HDTV broadcast.
     Similarly to my evaluation of "Who Wants to Kill Jessie?" (another title from this collection), I can't but conclude that whatever the improvement over the previous edition (and there IS some), it just does not make sense releasing these on DVD; a vanilla BD25 with the unrestored master as it is would probably cost more to produce, but I for one would gladly pay extra just to have these in proper HD (the laughably-poor-bitrate TV recording doesn't count).
