| Notes: | This DVD is only available as a free supplement of the Biják magazine 06/2007. According to the review of the film in the magazine, the original title "Panelstory" had to be amended by an optimistic "aneb Jak se rodí sídliště" ("or How a Collective Settlement Is Born") to please the communist representatives. And speaking of titles, I remember reading in various places on the Internet, that Leone's "Once Upon a Time in the West" is supposed to have the longest opening title sequence in the history of cinema. Coincidentally, I own the Paramount's R2 / Germany edition of "Once Upon a Time..." (the booklet indeed boasts that "Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod" hat die längste Titelsequenz der Filmgeschichte ;-)), so I checked, and the last credit with Leone's name disappears @ 9:43. Well, it seems "die Filmgeschichte" is wrong, because the last credit in "Panelstory" disappears @ 14:26! :-D

Regarding the film's presentation on this DVD, it's questionable at best. The video transfer is quite acceptable, even though the flat bitrate graph & the interlace-like artefacts (see below) suggest that it comes directly from a DigiBeta tape. The audio, however, is utterly disappointing. The sound level is too low (-45.78 dB according to my measurements), the dynamics is non-existent, and there's a steady LF hum throughout the track, rendering the dialogue almost unintelligible. Based on the comments on the Zóna discussion board, the reason for this is - simply enough - that there was no better source available. If that's the case, a warning on the cover would be nice...
