| Notes: | Only available in "Stelle rosse 2: La fantascienza della Cecoslovacchia" 3-disc set, together with "Icarus XB 1," "Late August at the Ozone Hotel" & 16-page booklet (in Italian).
As I expected, Noshame's edition of "Who Wants to Kill Jessie?" is a direct port of the older Czech release, a fact making visual comparison superfluous (i.e. the screengrabs are bitwise identical). Thus, at the bottom of this page, you'll find only one set of screenshots representing both DVDs.
Regarding the Italian version, not only have the comic bubbles been translated, it's also a completely different cut of the film. Several scenes were omitted, and others - shot exclusively for the Italian market - added, including a different ending. Unfortunately, the presentation leaves a lot to be desired - it's excessively bright, and sort of out of focus, shows less picture all around, and - a vital point - it's no good unless you speak Italian... *the scenes that were never dubbed into Italian have been left in their original language*** **difference between channels is -69.54 dB (0.03 %), resp. -78.75 dB (0.01 %) ***with optional Italian subtitles |

| Notes: | This DVD is a part of Bohemia Motion Pictures' " Klenoty českého filmu" ("The Jewels of Czech Cinema") collection - conceived to take advantage of the availability of new high-definition masters created primarily for HDTV broadcast. "Wouldn't it make more sense to release this content on Blu-ray in this day & age?" you may as well ask; it definitely would, because - at least in this case - the improvement in PQ over the 2004 Bonton DVD is negligible (although we do see more picture on all but the right side of the frame). *difference between channels is -39.81 dB (1.02 %) |
