"Distant Journey" has recently undergone a full-blown 4K restoration supervised by the National Film Archive and carried out at Universal Productions Partners (UPP). World première of the new resto was held at this year's (2020) The Berlinale International Film Festival - two months later, the film aired on the Czech TV channel art.

Note that due to the broadcast's poor bitrate, the screenshots in our gallery are not to be taken as representative of the restored film's actual picture quality.

As far as the restoration itself goes, however, there are a few things worth pointing out:

1. The opening title sequence has been fully reinstated:

At the time of this writing (April 20, 2020), the restored "Distant Journey" is available to stream (in Full HD too!) on the Czech Television's website. Interestingly enough, the pale green tinge the satellite recording exhibits is completely absent here... Weirdness, yes?
