Now, this is something of a rarity! This DVD was supposed to be released half a year ago - on March 12, however, due to certain copyright problems, it met the same fate as the "Ukradená vzducholoď" DVD, i.e. the release has been put on hold indefinitely. Luckily for some, thanks to a human error in one of Bonton's stores, a few (tens?) copies had been despatched to a couple of e-shops by the end of last week before Bonton realized the mistake, and cancelled the distribution. ;-)

Regarding the DVD presentation, the print seems to be much cleaner than the Japanese one, shows a bit more picture on sides, and I do believe the colours are more true to the original, as was also the case with "Ukradená vzducholoď."

Similarly to the previous Karel Zeman Museum releases, this appears to have come from a new scan, but there the effort stopped - no further restoration work has been done, not even to mitigate the most noticeable print damage (examples below).
What I find interesting is the fact that, colour-wise, the KZM DVD's closest "relative" is from Japan, i.e. the oldest (2004) - indeed the first ever - release of this film anywhere in the world. The Czech Bonton & Greek editions, while similar to each other, sport a decidedly unalike colour palette.

"Does any of that really matter?" you may as well ask. Not in the least - the Museum DVD gets my recommendation anyway, for overall better PQ, English-friendliness, and the simple expedient of actually being in print. (c:
