The encode sucks - it woulda sucked even in 2007, when this DVD came out. Fortunately, there are not that many "difficult" scenes like e.g. this one (the bit-starved satellite rip fares no better there):

Moreover, at many a scene change, the first few frames exhibit some warping (the HD master fixes that, but - I suspect - at the cost of zooming the picture in a little):
