If this'un ain't a pickle... Considering how important a role the visuals (the strikingly elegant costume / set design) play in this particular film, the PQ (colour, mainly) here sucks balls SO hard! :-P To add insult to injury, the thumbnails in the chapters menu are in fact more vivid than the film proper:

As of June 2020, the only other option to see this quirky little flick (with English subtitles, no less!) is the National Film Archive's digital "release" on their YouTube channel "Česká filmová klasika" (details below), and while it does look much better colour-wise, the laughably poor bitrate would make a "vintage" 1 CD standard definition DivX rip blush. ;-)

Interestingly enough, the 2 versions must've come from different sources and/or been restored to a varying extent, as print damage that plagues the (newer?) CFK master is conspicuous by its absence on the DVD:
